'AMLÉ' (Aontas na Mac Léinn in Éirinn) is the new name for the Union of Students in Ireland. It's a direct translation. It came into effect on 13 May 2025. The rebrand reflects the desire of the organisation to promote the use of the Irish Language.

As published in the Irish Times, a joint letter was signed by AMLÉ affilliated Students’ Union Presidents calling for immediate action from the Government on publicly funded education and increases to student supports on the 11th March, 2019.

Together, we are calling on the Government to act on publicly funded education, and to bring SAMLÉ grants in line with the soaring cost of living and rents.
