'AMLÉ' (Aontas na Mac Léinn in Éirinn) is the new name for the Union of Students in Ireland. It's a direct translation. It came into effect on 13 May 2025. The rebrand reflects the desire of the organisation to promote the use of the Irish Language.
We are deeply saddened at the sudden passing last weekend of Dave Roche, a prominent activist and supporter of the student movement and LGBT Community in his native Cork and beyond.
Dave addressed over 300 students as the opening speaker of AMLÉ LGBTI+ Pink Training last November, and spoke passionately about the building of support networks for people who were coming out or needed support of any kind.
